Walter Ridgeway Winder Jr.
Walter Ridgeway Winder Jr deployed with the 3/187th in December of 1967 during Operation Eagle Thrust. He served with Charlie Company, 3/187th. Walter and five other Rakkasans were killed in action on April 21, 1968 when friendly artillery fire accidentally hit their position during a combat operation.
Walter was from Washington DC and was nineteen years of age. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. His name is etched on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, Panel 51E, Line 34.
