Walter Alexander Williams
Walter Alexander Williams deployed with the 3/187th in December of 1967 during Operation Eagle Thrust. He served with Alpha Company. Walter was killed in action on March 18, 1968 from gunshot wounds during a combat operation. Duty Officer’s Logs from March 18, 1968 indicate Walter was killed during a firefight that occurred in the early afternoon - 1:00/2:00 PM (and several other Alpha Company were wounded).
Walter was from Mocksville, North Carolina and was twenty years of age. He is buried at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Mocksville, North Carolina. His name is etched on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on Panel 45E, Line 23.
