He served with Charlie Company, 3/187th. Thomas was killed in action on January 24, 1970 during a combat operation when he was mistaken for an enemy combatant. Thomas was from Princeton, Indiana and was twenty-two years of age. He is buried at Grapevine Cemetery, Madisonville, Kentucky.
