Terry Austin Ruth
Terry Austin Ruth deployed with the 3/187th in December of 1967 during Operation Eagle Thrust. Terry initially served with Bravo Company but took over Recon Platoon in the late summer of 1968. Terry was killed in action on September 7, 1968 during a combat operation near the village of X. Sa Nho (2). Due to the intensity of the extended firefight, his body was recovered on September 8, 1968.
Terry was from Anderson, Indiana and was twenty-two years of age. He is buried at Anderson Memorial Park, Anderson, Indiana. His name is etched on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, Panel 44W, Line 6.
