He served with Bravo Company, 3/187th. Robert was wounded in action on an unknown date during a combat operation. He was medevac'd from the field and admitted to a military hospital. Robert succumbed to his wounds on November 18, 1970. Robert was from St. Louis, Missouri and was twenty years of age. He is buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
