Robert Leonard Johnson Jr.

Robert Leonard Johnson Jr. deployed with the 3/187th in December of 1967 during Operation Eagle Thrust. He served with Echo Company, Recon Platoon, 3/187th. Robert and five other Rakkasans were killed in action on April 21, 1968 when friendly artillery fire accidentally hit the battalion locations during a combat operation.

Robert was from Rosedale, New York and was twenty-one years of age. He is buried at Long Island National Cemetery. His name is etched on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, Panel 51E, Line 17.
