He served with Charlie Company. Richard was killed in action when his platoon sprung an ambush during the NVA assault on FSB Pope and were making their way back to FSB Pope. Richard was from Carlotta, California and was twenty-one years of age. He is buried at Sunset Memorial Park, Eureka, California.
