Elements of the division continued limited operations until redeployment. On October 17, 1971 “…a solider from B/3-187th Inf detonated a BBT consisting of an 81mm mortar round with a pressure type firing device resulting in one US KIA”. CPT Barry Alan Bowman, Bravo Company Commander was the soldier killed in action.
