He served with Delta Company, 3/187th. Leonard was killed in action on May 18, 1969 during the assault on Dong Ap Bia/Hamburger Hill. Leonard was from Fort Defiance, Arizona and was twenty-two years of age, He is buried at Navajo Veterans Cemetery, Fort Defiance, Arizona.
