Jimmy Locklear

Jimmy Locklear deployed with the 3/187th in December of 1968, during Operation Eagle Thrust. He served with Charlie Company. Jimmy was wounded in action on August 30, 1968 during a combat operation. He was medevac’d from the field and admitted to the 24th Evac Hospital. On September 4, 1968, Jimmy succumbed to his wounds.

Jimmy was from Maxton, North Carolina and was eighteen years of age. He is buried at Hillside Memorial Park, Laurinburg, North Carolina. His name is etched on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, Panel 54W, Line 38.
