Jesse Lee Smith

Jesse Lee Smith deployed with the 3/187th in December of 1967 during Operation Eagle Thrust. He served with Bravo Company. Jesse was killed in action on February 13, 1968 when his night ambush position along the Can Giuoc River (south-southwest of Saigon) made contact with NVA/VC.

Jesse was from Los Angeles, California and was twenty-one years of age. He is buried at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Hattiesburg, Mississippi. His name is etched on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, Panel 39E, Line 26.
