He served with Bravo Company, 3/187th. Jerome was killed in action on May 15, 1969 during the assault on Dong Ap Bia/ Hamburger Hill when his position was accidently hit by supporting artillery fire. Jerome was from Fairmont, Minnesota and was nineteen years of age. He is buried at Fairview Memorial Park, Fairmont, Minnesota.
