He served with Charlie Company. Fred and two other Charlie Company soldiers were killed on May 22, 1968 when a grenade accidentally detonated in their billets. Fred was from San Diego, California and was twenty years of age. He is buried at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, California.
