He served as a HHC Medic with Alpha Company. Dean was killed in action in the early morning hours of September 6, 1968 during the cordon operation of the village of Ap Trang Dau. Dean was from Kansas City, Missouri and was twenty-one years of age. He is buried at Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.
