He served as a HHC Medic, 3/187th with Charlie Company. David was killed in action on May 14, 1969 during the assault on Dong Ap Bia/Hamburger Hill. David was from Becker County, Ogema, Minnesota and was twenty-one years of age. He is buried at Lakeside Cemetery, Richwood, Minnesota.
