He served with Echo Company, Recon Platoon. David was killed in action on March 13, 1968 when the Echo Company area on Phuoc Vinh Basecamp came under enemy mortar attack. David was from Erwin, Tennessee and was twenty years of age. He is buried at Roselawn Memorial Park, Johnson City, Tennessee.
