Cecil Leroy Mathew Jr
Cecil Leroy Matthew Jr, deployed with the 3/187th in December of 1967 during Operation Eagle Thrust. He served with Charlie Company. Cecil was wounded in action on July 19, 1968 when a booby-trap detonated during a combat operation. He was medevac'd from the field and admitted to a military hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.
Cecil was from Columbus, Ohio and was twenty-two years of age. He is buried at Union Cemetery, West Columbia, Ohio. His name is etched on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, Panel 50W, Line 51.
