He served with Charlie Company, 3/187th. Billy and two other Charlie Company soldiers were killed on May 22, 1968 when a grenade accidently detonated in their billets. Billy was from Groveton, Texas and was twenty-one years of age. He is at buried Mount Zion Cemetery, Apple Springs, Texas. His name is etched on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, Panel 65E, Line 5.
