He served as a HHC Medic with Alpha Company. Benjamin was killed in action in the early morning hours of September 6, 1968 during a cordon operation of the village of Ap Trang Dau. Benjamin was from Rockingham, North Carolina and was twenty-three years of age. He is buried at Dawkins Cemetery, Rockingham, North Carolina.
