He served with Echo Company, Recon Platoon, 3/187th. Carl was killed in action during a combat operation near the village of X. Sa Nho (2). Carl was from San Bernadino, California and was twenty years of age. He is buried at Mountain View Cemetery, San Bernadino, California.
